Here's our guide to Jackson Hole
Skiing and the Mountains
- Its nickname is simply "The Big One" and its fame is worldwide. The resort is not really suitable for beginners but there is plenty of skiing for intermediates with more than 300 acres of intermediate terrain in the Casper Bowl alone. An average of 1322cm of snow a year ensures you never have problems finding powder to ski on
- With the biggest vertical drop of any ski mountain in North America experts and extreme skiers will find plenty to keep the adrenaline flowing on the many black and double diamond runs on Rendezvous Mountain
- The "official" full-size terrain park is located at the bottom of Apres Vous. The AV terrain park has long, challenging rails and sizable, mandatory tabletops. Before you enter this park, you’re encouraged to hone your skills in the Eagle's Rest mini terrain park. This new, lower-angle park has several rails, little jumps, and mini-table-tops, perfect for practicing
- Numerous world-famous challenges await you at Jackson Hole. Whilst it is advisable to watch the local experts plunge into the infamous Corbets Couloir, you will find the superb powder in the Cheyenne, Laramie and Tensleep Bowls an amazing experience. A day on the ski shuttle to Grand Targhee is highly recommended
- Interested in a day in the backcountry without the expense of a heli-ski trip? If so, a snowcat trip may be what you're looking for. Trips typically accommodate up to 10 people and often cover up to 20,000 vertical feet in a day. Grand Targhee Resort provides half and full day trips in the Tetons. The snowcat will take you up Peaked Mountain which has 1000 acres and 2400 vertical feet reserved exclusively for snowcat skiing
- If you want to escape the crowds of the lift queues and enjoy the backcountry experience, a yurt trip may be for you. Yurts are round, tent-like structures set up in the backcountry that typically sleep 6 to 10 people. They are equipped with a wood stove for heat, a propane stove for cooking, bunk beds, and many provide fully prepared meals. Trips usually range from a couple days to a week, but most outfits will accommodate any schedule you're interested in. A yurt trip is truly a one-of-a-kind experience!

Après-ski
- Snake River Brewing Company is located in downtown Jackson Hole. The 'Brewpub,' as it is commonly known offers internationally acclaimed microbrews. This locals' favourite is a great place to start out the night or to enjoy the warm fire while grabbing an excellent, affordable bite to eat
- Other recommended bars include Shady Lady, The Million Dollar Cowboy Bar and Mangy Moose
- The variety of places to eat is stunning and usually great value. We like The Gunbarrel and Mama Inez
- Solitude Cabin Dinner Sleigh Rides offer unique fine dining every night at a rustic log cabin set in the woods. Horse drawn carriages take guests for two separate dinner settings through a romantic tree lined route from the base of the mountain. Watch out for the moose!
- For a fantastic family day away from the slopes visit Yellowstone National Park located only 56 miles from the town of Jackson. Trips are available daily from downtown Jackson Hole
