Here's our guide to Whistler
Skiing and the Mountains
- Whistler is great for skiers and boarders of all abilities, with 2 mountains, three glaciers, 12 bowls, more than 200 marked runs, powder chutes, mogul fields, tree skiing and the famed Whistler powder. What more could you possibly want?
- If you have dreamt of an empty mountain and untouched powder you have to try the Fresh Tracks programme. This offers you a great breakfast on the mountain from 7.30am then as soon as the ski patrol give the go ahead you are free to enjoy the mountain before most people are out of bed
- With such a big mountain how do you know where to go? Don’t worry Whistler has it covered, the locals volunteer to act as Mountain Hosts and offer complimentary orientation tours. It’s a great way to open your eyes to this huge ski area
- The award winning Nintendo Terrain parks and pipes at Whistler include terrain for all abilities. The parks are designed with progression in mind, so novices to experts can call a park their own
- With all of the powder bowls you’re never far away from untracked snow but if you really want to explore take Powder Mountain Cat skiing into the Whistlers back country. Your day will consist of an average of 7,000 to 10,000 vertical feet of untracked powder. Have an unforgettable day of cat skiing or snowboarding in some of the most spectacular alpine scenery in the world
- Whistler has the longest ski season in Canada - you can ski from November to July. So if you fancy getting a ski break in early or cannot face the 7-month wait for snow in Europe, Whistler is the answer

Après-ski
- Even getting to Whistler is a pleasure. With only a 2 ½ hour transfer from Vancouver the drive to resort along the aptly named ‘Sea to Sky Highway’ is simply stunning. Even though the snow will be calling, you will be tempted to take your time!
- Feel the wind in your face as you cruise down the exhilarating tubing hill. Whistlers Coca-Cola Tube Park has 6-8 lanes varying in difficulty from Green to Blue to Black. A state-of-the-art, carpet style lift has been installed. There's no skill or equipment required - just a sense of adventure and a desire for excitement
- Whistler is famous in North America for excitement off the slopes as well as on it. Whistler’s unparalleled après ski scene is a tradition; people meet on the outdoor patios to swap their ski stories. There’s plenty of restaurants and nightclubs to tempt you here and compared to Europe eating out is excellent value for money
- If you have a head for heights you will love Whistler. There are many ways for you to get your adrenaline fix so if you’ve ever wanted to bridge bungee jump or race across canyons on a zip line or even take a guide to climb a natural frozen waterfall, in Whistler the sky’s the limit
- Whistler will be hosting the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic winter games. Expect this event to be a huge celebration for Whistler and there will be some fantastic developments during the build up so watch this space…
- Entertainment, festivals, events, celebrations and parties are an integral part of Whistler life. From film festivals to live music, to theatre to TELUS the largest ski and board festival in North America, Whistler always has something going on
