Golf holidays in Dubai

Dubai

Where else in the world are golf holes shaped like dhow sales, or built onto reclaimed land on a creek? As the UAE focuses increasingly on tourism, Dubai is constantly changing, and exciting new golf courses are constantly appearing such as the impressive Els course at Dubai Sports City or the Earth and Fire Courses at Jumeirah Golf Estates. Promising plans mixed with the area’s focus on opulence means every golf holiday in Dubai is an exquisite adventure. The quality of hotels, leisure facilities and dining options are all second to none, making the Dubai an outstanding choice for a luxury golf break.

Recently redesigned by Thomas Bjorn, the Dubai Creek Golf club runs along the stretch of water that it takes its name from in the heart of Dubai. The eighteenth hole deserves special mention, a long Par 4 with the creek running all the way along the right hand side towards the stunning clubhouse, which is designed to represent a dhow sail. Another must-play course.

Park Hyatt Dubai 5 Star Hotel

Situated next to the Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club, this sumptuous five-star has a stunning position overlooking the glistening water and marina. Away from the bustle of the city centre, this whitewashed oasis of landscaped gardens is still only a short drive from the business and banking hubs of the emirate, with travel connections including road or a water taxi.

Luxuriously appointed, each of the 225 guest rooms and 35 suites features a balcony or terrace affording views across Dubai Creek. Expect a mix of Moorish and Mediterranean design, with muted pastel hues bathed in natural light. King-sized beds are furnished with fine cotton linens and goose down duvets, while marble baths are perfect for a long soak. Daily fruit and mineral water add a personal touch. Upgrade to one of the eight Spa Rooms, which feature a steam and shower room and are positioned near the swimming pool area.

If you want to relax and unwind it’s not just the excellent spa and golf that will draw you here. Cooking classes offer expert tuition at the main restaurants and the hotel is able to arrange numerous cultural tours that take in Dubai’s fascinating history and open a window on its traditions. Housed within the lovingly restored Al Fahidi Fort is Dubai Museum, while the Bedouin Village a short drive away offers camel-riding lessons. Head into the city for art galleries, malls and so much more.

A truly cosmopolitan city, Dubai is never short of excellent dining options, and the Park Hyatt lives up to this reputation. Dine on fine Thai cuisine at The Thai Kitchen, whose native chefs chop and fry their chilli-inflected dishes to perfection. Gallic flair is on display at French restaurant Traiteur, whose “bistronomic” cooking (a mix of casual and fine-dining) has won it accolades. Private dining, an extensive wine cellar and a chef’s table are on offer here too. Other places to sample fine food and drink include Cafe Arabesque with its mezze and kebabs, and The Terrace, with its sunset views, caviar and premium vodkas.
