Stay in an exquisite converted palace near Lake Garda and play a round in rolling lakeside scenery before an evening at the open-air opera. Or, enjoy a game in a grand hunting estate decorated with terracotta and frescoes in the Tuscan countryside close to the art of Florence and the history of Pisa. Italy’s rich culture and golf opportunities also extend beyond the shores of the mainland. Over in Sicily, where quality golf courses are increasing in numbers, you’ll find glamorous golf resorts such as Verdura which is fantastic for all the family. For the best weather and undiscovered gems of island courses, Sicily is creating waves in the industry. Alternatively you can experience the beautiful beaches of the Mediterranean in Sardinia.

Poggio only opened in 1995 and has already hosted Ladies European Tour events, and is regarded as one of the finest courses in Italy. The course is set in rolling terrain, with views of the Mugello mountains and the silhouetted church spires of Tuscan hamlets. The course itself is designed to a very high specification, with two great finishing holes (9+18) over water. There are rows of Cypress trees lining fairways to remind you of where you are, and the new clubhouse terrace provides a great location to enjoy a post round drink.

Located in the rolling Tuscan countryside close to the Mugello mountains north of Florence, lies the wonderful Poggio dei Medici golf resort. Once part of the Medici family's hunting estate, Poggio is now an ideal golf getaway with the airports of Bologna, Pisa & Florence all within 75 minutes.

The accommodation is based in 4 locks, or villas, that all give access to a balcony or terrace overlooking the golf course or the hills. All rooms are decorated in typical Tuscan style, with Terracotta tile floor, pottery and wooden ceiling, with air-conditioning, satellite TV, minibar, balcony / terrace, safe, hairdryer & robes.

Poggio dei Medici is dominated by the impressive championship golf course which has been a regular host to the Ladies European Tour. There is an outdoor pool that is open between June & September as well as a small Spa offering treatments and massages as well as a sauna and jacuzzi.

Poggio dei Medici now only has one main restaurant, that serves a buffet breakfast in the morning. However in the evening it serves a wonderful a la carte menu, making use of the local seasonal produce and a first class wine list. There is also a bar and brasserie in the spa area, overlooking the golf course and mountains.
