What makes The Masters so special?

One of the world’s most iconic and beloved sporting events, The Masters is a golf tournament like no other. Played out every April on Alister MacKenzie’s defining course design, the players lucky enough to be invited to take part compete not for money or ranking points, but for the glory of a Major win, membership of a very special club and the right to wear the coveted Green Jacket.

Just the merest mention of Augusta National Golf Club is enough to send most golfers into a daze. From the brilliant white sand bunkers and emerald fairways to the banks of glorious azaleas behind iconic holes like 12 and 13,

this former plant nursery is an explosion of colour. And because it’s played at the same venue it’s a course that we all know intimately despite never having set foot on the hallowed turf. We can visualise every hole and the great moments that have shaped the tournament’s history - Bubba’s wedge, Tiger’s chip, Sandy’s bunker shot, Jack’s putt.. right the way back to Gene Sarazen’s ‘Shot heard around the world’.

Defining shots are all etched into Masters folklore, and each year new chapters are added as the roars echo around Amen Corner.
