Meribel has long been a favourite with Supertravel's clients. Located in the heart of Les Trois Vallees, Meribel is the perfect resort to explore this extensive ski area, with miles of perfectly groomed pistes.
It has the reputation of being a sunny resort,
and the consistent snow fall it receives makes Meribel very popular with the off-piste crowd. Meribel village has a wealth of things to do off the slopes with a lot of the infrastructure still in place from the Albertville Olympics. The resort boasts ice rinks, bowling, varied après ski and many places to party until dawn. Book one of our Meribel hotels and you are guaranteed a great ski trip.
In the centre of the 3 Valleys, Meribel is the ideal place for exploring all that this massive ski area has to offer. It’s larger than the 6 biggest American resorts put together!
The red Combe Vallon is one of the longest
runs in the valley, starting at the highest skiing point in Meribel, Mont Vallon (2952m). Mainly north facing, it keeps excellent snow all season. Starting out steep and narrow, it twists and turns, widens, and then just keeps on going for a total 1000m drop. Unless you’re very fit you’ll need to stop for several breathers (pretend you’re admiring the view).
Here comes the sun! Ski in the sun on the
Tougnètte side in the morning, and cross over to the Saulire in the afternoon, Meribel is renowned as a sunny resort and this means it's with you all day.
Meribel has stayed ahead of the rest of the 3 valleys by introducing 2 superb ski/board parks with bumps, jumps and pipes. So if slope style is your thing then you’ll have a great time here.
The Face is the 1992 Olympic Women’s
downhill course It’s hard to imagine that people straight line this at 70mph – not something we would recommend though.
As well as being a great all round resort
the experts have plenty to do. Hiring a guide from one of the ski schools makes the off piste very accessible and the run from the Col du Fruit is a classic Meribel pitch.
No matter what the weather is doing the Parc Olympique has lots to keep everyone in the group entertained off the slopes. Ice skating, bowling, video games and a large swimming pool facility with slides allow you to relax after a hard days skiing before you head back to your hotel. They have recently added a great climbing wall.
Meribel is famous for après ski and evening
entertainment. It has been known for people to have to get a cab back to Courchevel in the evening because the live music in Le Rond Point was so good. The infamous Dicks Tea Bar in town can certainly reduce the chance of getting the first lift next morning - you’re never far from a good time in Meribel.
Snowshoeing has become more and more popular with our clients. It’s a magical experience venturing onto the mountain in the moonlight and wandering through the peaceful snow covered trees led by an experienced guide. A real night to remember.
The favourite après ski activity is still the torch lit decent. There is still something exciting about skiing down the moonlit pistes as your sparkling torch lights up the crisp snow around you.
