Courchevel

Courchevel

Gem at the centre of the world's largest ski area

A high-end resort at the centre of some of the most fabulous skiing on the planet, Courchevel revels in being the favourite Alpine hangout of Parisians. It comprises four villages at different altitudes and the main one, at 1850 metres, is rammed with hedonistic hotels, chic chalets, Michelin-starred restaurants and designer shops.

It's an inimitable combination of vibrant glitz, discreet sophistication and affluent rusticity, and has fabulously varied and extensive skiing.

In Courchevel you can enjoy some unique experiences - such as having a plane trip around the peaks from the most exciting airport in the Alps, on the slopes above the village and with a dramatically ramped runway, as featured in the James Bond Goldeneye film. Or have a sunrise voyage in a hot-air balloon for the most breathtaking views possible of the village and surrounding mountains.

You can also have the newest model skis or boards and boots delivered and fitted at your hotel or chalet instead of going to the rental shop.

Sublime skiing is Courchevel’s raison d’etre, but a third of the guests don’t ski – many spending their holiday in the beauty spas. So this means that the slopes can be wonderfully uncrowded even when the resort is busy. A huge network of lifts and pistes radiates from 1850, all connecting easily to the rest of the Three Valleys resorts of Meribel, Les Menuires and Val Thorens to make fantastic days out on skis possible in the largest linked ski area in the world.

Off the slopes, take in an ice hockey match at the arena in La Croisette at the resort centre or see sundown over the peaks on a snowmobile excursion (you drive your own).

Les Caves is the epi-centre of Courchevel nightlife. Reserve a table. The club flies in cabaret acts from Paris. KuDeTa is a noted apres-ski haunt, serving a range of food including Tex-Mex - and later becomes a disco that rocks until 4am. The Moroccan-style Grange also attracts a popular following.

Chabichou
Michelin star dining at its best

Le Chabichou

Boasting two Michelin Guide stars and honours in the Gault Millau and Bottin Gourmand guides, the gourmet restaurant at Le Chabichou offers a spectacular dining experience to its guests.

Subtle, refined, inventive and bountiful, it brings out the best of local products and flavours from here and beyond. Dishes crafted with fresh natural ingredients produce a true culinary experience, where exquisite taste meets dazzling presentation.

In tune with the fare, an outstanding list of wines selected by Sommelier Bruno Cahu help to complete this taste sensation.

Take in Le Chabichou’s striking interior, with modern design combining with Savoyard tradition proving the perfect backdrop for an evening steeped in class. By evening, the overhead mezzanine helps to create an atmosphere to match, as the sound of live music and the delicious aromas drift from the restaurant to the terrace.

The little brother of Le Chabichou gives new meaning to the term “bistronomie”... or how to combine great food and affordable prices.

Specialty dishes to sample: succulent skewered meats, Savoyard recipes ingeniously reinterpreted, mountain-angled fish, desserts like grandma used to make.

The hot spot of Courchevel après ski

The Caves

The Caves are the hot spot of Courchevel night life and are a must for all the holiday night revellers in the resort, even after more than 20 years in existence.

Kitted out with the latest sound and lighting technology, in addition to the lengthy cocktail menu, the stage is set for you to unwind on your perfect night out. Nebuchadnezzars of Cristal and Jeroboams of Dom Pérignon Rosé compete for the limelight throughout winter as the “beautiful people” congregate.

Located at the entrance to the station, “Les Caves” promises to delve into a haunting atmosphere with a style that can be rock, house, disco and R & B as you wish!
