Synonymous with style, chic, elegance and class, St Moritz was originally famed for its mineral spring waters and therapeutic mountain air by the lake and forest. After convincing its high profile guests to visit in the winter months, the ski slopes of St Moritz have become so popular and world renowned they have hosted the Olympics not once but twice!
The high altitudes mean long ski seasons and the
location of this wonderful resort boasts 300 days of sunshine per year. You will fall in love with hotels many of which were built in the early 1900s, such grandeur from yesteryear lives on in 5 x 5* hotels each with its own unique qualities.
The lift and train systems to move you around the ski area are efficient and scenery stunning, you may spot a horse race while skiing as the lake is used for many glamorous events during the winter season. Your journey to resort is a truly amazing experience that will take some beating, travelling in a glass ceiling train along some of the most beautiful train lines in Europe.
The 3 ski areas Corviglia, Corvatsch and Diavolezza offer a variety of pistes for everyone, cover 350km easily accessed by free buses linking the areas together as well as a hi-tech and efficient lift system.
Corviglia and Piz Nair are the largest skiing
and snowboarding areas, rising above the town of St Moritz and provide expansive network of trails and off piste possibilities with stunning scenery taboot. The Piz Nair Cable Car from Corviglia transports you to the Piz Nair area, where from the 10,000+ feet peak, challenging and exciting trails lead down back towards the town.
This area is best suited to advanced and confident
intermediates. Corviglia's extensive off piste terrain, provides cliff drops, natural gullies, chutes and open powder fields, a lot of which require little or no hiking to access. Fresh tracks can still be found days after a dump.
Corvatsch is a short bus ride away and the skiing and snowboarding is suitable for all levels, with gentle beginner trails on the lower mountain areas and long fast intermediate groomed trails on the upper areas as well as challenging steep descents both on and off piste for the advanced.
The Corvatsch Glacier ensures a long season
and provides further fun with some gentle runs. More intermediate and beginner terrain can be found in Furtschellas using the lifts..
Every Friday night is snow night at Corvatsch,
from 7pm to 2am there is partying, dining, skiing and snowboarding on Switzerland’s longest floodlit piste
Diavola sits along the valley from Corviglia and you can be sure to make some peaceful turns here, as it is less crowded in the busier periods than the other 2 areas.
