Full Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Barcelona

On arrival at Barcelona airport you will be met and taken to your ship, which is docked in the heart of the city. Plenty of time for visits and tours today before the Carnival Horizon sets sail. Check out the Gaudi masterpieces of La Segrada Familia and Park Guell, visit the Gothic quarter, take the cog wheel train up Montserrat Mountain and go shopping in Las Ramblas. And if you fancy just chilling out, there are plenty of great beaches nearby.

Day 2: Fun day at sea

Your one and only full day at sea on the cruise so make the most of it and explore this great cruise liner and find out about all the state of the art facilities and dining options. There is never a dull moment of a Carnival cruise and today you can have fun in the Waterworks, have a relaxing treatment in the Cloud 9 Spa, do some serious spending in the ship's shops and boutiques, and enjoy a cocktail anytime in one of the award-winning bars. The on-board entertainment is also top notch.

Day 3: Sardinia

Today the Carnival Horizon drops anchor at Cagliari on the emerald island of Sardinia. As with all destinations on the cruise, there are a whole range of tours to choose from that can be booked on board. Here you can visit the medieval town of Castello or the Broze Age village of Barumini, have great views of the limestone towers in the Bay of Cagliari, or take a trip to see Orto Botanico, Italy's most famous botanical garden. Sardinia is a green and beautiful island and you will see superb scenery on any tour.

Day 4: Naples

Today you arrive into the Bay of Naples and there is so much to see and do after leaving the ship. The birthplace of the pizza is a fascinating city and the gateway to great tourist attractions like Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius, where you can take a chair lift to the top of the crater, the stunning Amalfi coast and the seaside resort of Sorrento. Also there are trips to the beautiful and romantic island of Capri, with its many grand villas and famous Blue Grotto

Day 5: Rome

Another memorable day ahead when the Carnival Horizon arrives at Civitavecchia, the port city for Rome. Take a trip into the Eternal City and see where the gladiators fought in the enormous colosseum, walk around mighty St Peter's cathedral, see the Vatican and Michelangelo's masterpiece on the roof of the Sistine Chapel, marvel at the Pantheon and Circus Maximus, climb the Spanish Steps and throw a coin in the Trevi Fountain to make sure that you return again.

Day 6: Florence and Pisa

Two great options today when you arrive at the Italian port town of Livorno, with day trips to Florence and Pisa. Beautiful Florence has so many wonderful sights with the Duomo and campanile at its heart. Stroll across the Ponte Vecchio bridge with the sun shining on the Arno River, spend as much time as you can seeing the art in the Uffizi Gallery, stand next to the statue of David in the Galleria Accademia and walk around Santa Croce cathedral. While in Pisa, you won't want to miss the famous Leaning Tower.

Day 7: Marseilles

Your final port of call on the cruise today when the Carnival Horizon arrives at Marseilles, gateway to the beautiful Provence region of France. Lots of tours available here or you can go ashore on your own and take a walk around the old port area with its quirky shops and great seafood restaurants. Further afield, you can take a drive along the French Riviera passing through Saint Tropez, Cannes and Nice or visit the charming nearby fishing village of Cassis, where there's a lovely beach.

Day 8: End of cruise

Today your action packed eight day cruise around the Mediterranean comes to an end when the Carnival Horizon arrives back into Barcelona. Say farewell to new found friends then explore more of this great city, seeing some of the sights you missed on the first day, before heading to the airport to catch your flight home. All Carnival cruises put the emphasis on fun, and you are sure to have a great time while visiting so many famous sights.
