Peppers Airlie Beach

Peppers Airlie Beach 4 Star

from £165 per room night

Location

Designed by architects Gary Hume & Partners, this luxury Peppers resort provides fully serviced apartment accommodation overlooking Whitsunday Passage. Airlie Beach itself is part of a peninsula on the Queensland coast; it’s described as the ‘gateway to the Whitsunday Islands’, and makes a great mainland base from which to visit the Great Barrier Reef. From Proserpine Airport it’s about a 40-minute drive to the resort, and it’s 10–15 minutes from Shute Harbour.

Rooms:

You can choose from 102 fresh, modern one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, all providing a separate lounge and dining area with designer touches and a fully equipped kitchen with a washing machine. Facilities include a balcony, spa bath and bathrobes, free internet connection, cable TV, minibar, air-conditioning and iPod docking station. Accessible accommodation is also available.

Activities:

The resort itself has a gym, business centre and wet-edge pool. Within walking distance you’ll find all manner of shops, restaurants and beaches, with activities such as beach cricket or volleyball. You’re in one of the most spectacular places on earth, with lots of different options for visiting the Great Barrier Reef – whether by glass-bottomed boat, helicopter, seaplane, semi-submersible or dive boat. You can also arrange a fishing trip, a day’s visit to Dingo Beach, a crocodile safari at Proserpine or an excursion to Eungella National Park, where you might even see a platypus. And if that’s not enough, there are also opportunities for jet-skiing, ocean rafting, sailing and, believe it or not, camel rides.

Dining:

Tides Restaurant & Bar, run by renowned executive chef Gregory Devine, serves a modern Australian menu with an Asian twist in an open-air setting. Dishes are based on locally sourced organic ingredients and might include the freshest reef fish and prawns and Black Angus fillet. You can look out over the Coral Sea as you eat.

Spa:

Endota Spa promotes a range of wellbeing treatments in a lovely, tropical setting. Signature treatments include the ‘rapt endota’, with a footbath, clay cocoon and organic facial, and a ‘pregnancy pick-me-up’ that pampers mums-to-be.
