Full Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Marrakech

On arrival in Marrakech you will be met by one of our experienced tour guides and taken to your hotel where you can relax after the journey or go out and explore on your own. You have another full day here so there is plenty of time to see all the famous sights. Today you may want to try your hand at haggling for bargain souvenirs in one of the souks and see if you are a match for the local traders. Tonight try some of the traditional food in one of the many quality restaurants.

Day 2: Marrakech

Today after breakfast at your hotel you are taken on a full day tour of the city. You stop at the souks in the Medina and walk around the famous Djemaa El Fna Square. Marrakech was founded by the Almoravids in 1062 after a period of instability had gripped the country. The city has been in and out of favour over the centuries with four different dynasties making it their capital. Today it's the most famous city in Morocco and was voted by Trip Advisor as Best Destination in the World in 2015.

Day 3: Marrakech – Ouarzazate

Today you say farewell to the exciting city of Marrakech and travel up winding roads through the stunning Atlas Mountains and over the Tichka Pass from where you have spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. Along the way stop at the kasbah village of Ait Benhaddou, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where many masterpieces of the cinema have been shot, such as Gladiator, Jewel of Nile, The Mummy, Alexander and Lawrence of Arabia. Overnight and dinner in Ouarzazate.

Day 4: Ouarzazate - Merzouga

Today takes in one of Morocco's most spectacular scenic routes when you leave Ouarzazate and travel to Merzouga. Heading east through the Valley of the Roses, which is famous for the production of rose water, you arrive at the stunning Dades Valley and its steep rocky gorge. After lunch here you continue along Route des Kasbahs taking in traditional Berber villages and ancient fortresses. This sense of ‘real Morocco’ and adventure is echoed in the choice of tonight's accommodation in Kasbah Tombouctou.

Day 5: Merzouga desert – Fes

There's another wonderful journey for you to enjoy today when you leave the kasbah after a traditional Moroccan breakfast and are driven through picturesque Little Switzerland on the way to the old Moroccan capital city of Fes, which dates back 1,200 years. Along the route today you will pass hundreds of palm trees and see families at work and play in the Berber villages. On arrival at Fes you will be dropped off at your hotel and the rest of the evening is free for you to explore on your own.

Day 6: Fès

Enjoy a full day sightseeing tour of the city including a visit to the tanneries, the 8th century Medina and markets, the 14th century district as well as the modern city. Fez has been the seat of power in Morocco for four different dynasties, for around 650 years. Built by Idris I between 789 and 808, Fez relinquished its most recent hold of the throne in 1912, when French administrators moved the capital to Rabat. But it has never lost its heritage, and more than anywhere else in the entire Arab world, this is the place to see a living, breathing medieval city.

Day 7: Fès – Casablanca

This morning after breakfast you say goodbye to Fes to begin your drive to the final destination on the tour - Casablanca. First stop today is the archaeological wonder of Volubilis, the ancient Roman city from the second century, then it's on to lovely Moulay Idriss. Then before you arrive at Casablanca, where you stay for your final night, you make a stop at the beautiful imperial city of Meknes, which is now a UNESCO world heritage site, with time to explore it.

Day 8: End of tour

Today your wonderful Essence of Morocco's tour comes to an end. Possibly time for some more sightseeing or shopping for souvenirs before you are picked up from your hotel and driven to the airport to catch an onward flight or begin your homeward journey. But there is no need to leave today, you have the option of staying on in Casablanca and extending your holiday for a few extra days giving you more time to appreciate this famous Arab city.
