Full Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Cape Town

On arrival in Cape Town you will pick up your hire car and drive to your hotel, the Primi Royal, which is situated on the slopes of the Twelve Apostles and a mere stone's throw from the sugar-white beach and the elegant restaurants and lively night spots of Camps Bay. Relax after the journey then go out and explore.

Accommodation: Standard De Waterkant House

Day 2: Cape Town

A full day today to explore this remarkable city. Take a trip on the cable car, or for the more energetic a walk, to the top of Table Mountain for spectacular views of the city below. You can also leave the car behind and take a short boat trip out to Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was held prisoner for so many years, then check out the great shops and restaurants along the Victoria and Alfred waterfront.

Accommodation: Standard De Waterkant House

Day 3: Cape Town

Another day to explore the Cape Town area. Today you can drive through wonderful coastal roads south along the peninsula with the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the Indian Ocean on the other. Visit the rugged Cape of Good Hope, see the penguin colony at Boulders Beach, and if there is time visit the stunning Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens.

Accommodation: Standard De Waterkant House

Day 4: Cape Town to Montagu

You say farewell to Cape Town today when you check out of your hotel in Camps Bay and drive to the wine producing town of Montagu. Here you can rest and recharge your batteries at your hotel, the Mimosa Lodge, or if you are feeling adventurous you can book one of a number of adrenalin flowing activities.

Accommodation: Standard Mimosa Lodge

Day 5: Montagu to Oudtshoorn

After spending the morning relaxing at Montagu you start the short drive to Oudtshoorn where there are a number of activities on offer. Most people's favourite is a visit to see the world's biggest birds at the fun packed Oudtshoorn Ostrich farm. Another popular trip is to the spectacular Cango Caves. Overnight at the De Opstal Country Lodge.

Accommodation: Standard De Opstal Country Lodge

Day 6: Oudtshoorn to Knysna

Today you leave Oudtshoorn behind and drive towards Knysna along the beautiful Garden Route. On arrival in Knysna you check in to the Knysna Log Inn, which is just a five minute walk from the popular Knysna Quays, also known as the waterfront, where there are plenty of top class restaurants if you fancy eating out tonight. And be sure to try the renowned local oysters.

Accommodation: Standard Knysna Log Inn

Day 7: Knysna

A full day to discover the delights of Knysna and the surrounding towns. Knysna stands out on South Africa's famed Garden Route thanks to the limestone cliffs that dramatically separate its tranquil lagoon from the pounding surf of the Indian Ocean. It's also home to the country's largest indigenous forest. Hop aboard the Outeniqua Choo Choo for a steam engine ride through the scenic highlights. The Millwood Mines at Jubilee Creek, site of a major gold rush in 1885, provide a picturesque spot for a picnic.

Accommodation: Standard Knysna Log Inn

Day 8: Knysna to St Francis

Leave the comfort of the Knysna Log Inn after breakfast and begin your drive towards the beautiful coastal town of St Francis. Here, as well as seeing the local sights, you can enjoy activities ranging from boat cruises, surfing and golf. In St Francis you will be staying at the Sandals Guest House.

Accommodation: Standard Sandals Guest House

Day 9: Port Elizabeth to Kruger

Today you drive to Port Elizabeth and drop your hire car off at the airport ready to catch your short flight to Johannesburg. On arrival you will be met at the airport and taken to the exclusive Thornybush Game Reserve, which is alongside the magnificent Kruger National Park, to begin your two days of safari adventures while staying at the Thornybush Chapungu Lodge.

Accommodation: Standard Thornybush Chapungu

Day 10: Thornybush

Today you will be taken on early morning and evening game drives on the reserve with time to relax at the lodge during the heat of the day. Thornybush Game Reserve is set in the heart of the rolling Lowveld and adjacent to Kruger National Park and is home to a huge variety of African wildlife species. Also known as Thornybush Nature Reserve, the scenery comprises open savannah, and with a near perfect year round climate, it is the ideal safari holiday destination.

Accommodation: Standard Thornybush Chapungu

Day 11: Thornybush

Another memorable day in the reserve when you will have a good chance of seeing all of the Big Five - lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino - as well as all the other animals that live in the vast Kruger National Park. Again there will be organised early morning and evening game drives and today there is also the option of taking a walking safari.

Accommodation: Standard Thornybush Chapungu

Day 12: Kruger

Perhaps time for one final game drive in the Kruger today before you are picked up at Chapungu Lodge and driven to the airstrip for your onward journey.
