The Okavango Delta is one of the world's greatest mysteries of water in a desert and on this wonderful 11 day safari tour you will see it in all its glory. The Okavango covers a mind boggling area in Botswana and the Okavango River has no opening into the sea so empties into the sands of the Kalahari Desert, which is home to a myriad of animal and bird species. The Delta is a tranquil and isolated oasis set in Botswana's harsh and arid desert and is widely considered one of Africa's top safari destinations. And to kick off this great adventure, your trip begins with a visit to the spectacular Victoria Falls.

Full Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Livingstone

Your tour begins when you arrive at Livingstone, the town named after our great explorer. You will be met at the airport and taken on a tour of the awe inspiring Victoria Falls. Known locally as ‘Mosi-oa-Tunya’ – The Smoke that Thunders, they are the greatest curtain of falling water in the world. Columns of spray can be seen from miles away as, at the height of the rainy season, more than 500 million cubic meters of water per minute plummet over the edge, over a width of nearly two kilometers, into a gorge more than 100 meters below.

Accommodation: Standard Rate Toka Leya Camp

Day 2: Linyanti and Chobe

In the morning after breakfast at Toka Leya Camp have another look at the Falls before being driven back to Livingstone Airport for your short flight to Kasane for a river boat cruise in the stunning Chobe National Park. Then it's back on a plane as you fly to the next destination on your Great Wilderness Journey, the Linyanti Concession.

Day 3: Linyanti Discovery Camp

A full day to enjoy morning and evening safaris and relaxing time at the camp. You will be staying in Meru-style tents on a wooden deck overlooking the floodplains and each has a bathroom with flush toilet and shower. There is a plunge pool for cooling off in the heat of the day and the main dining area is an elevated deck between two magnificent sycamore fig trees. There is also a cosy pub and lounge and an area for open air fires under the stars.

Day 9: Moremi Game Reserve

This gem of a National Park has earned a number of important distinctions. In 2008 it was voted the ‘best game reserve in Africa’ by the prestigious African Travel and Tourism Association. And it is the first reserve in Africa to be established by local residents. Concerned about the rapid depletion of wildlife in their ancestral lands – due to uncontrolled hunting and cattle encroachment – the Batawana people of Ngamiland took the bold initiative to proclaim Moremi a game reserve in 1963.
