Whatever else you do on a visit to Vietnam, be sure to take a trip out to stunning Halong Bay, where towering limestone pillars and tiny islets topped by forest rise from the emerald waters of the Gulf of Tonkin. Designated a world heritage site in 1994, Halong Bay's spectacular scatter of islands, dotted with wind and wave eroded grottoes, is a vision of ethereal beauty and, not surprisingly, the country's number one tourist attraction. And on this three day trip you will experience the best the bay has to offer.

Full Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Hanoi to Halong Bay

You are met at your hotel in Hanoi for the four hour drive east to Hon Gai, the gateway to amazing Halong Bay. Considered Vietnam's greatest natural wonder, the bay boasts more than 3,000 islands that rise out of the sea to provide a spectacular natural environment. En route pass fields of busy workers farming their rice using traditional methods. On arrival board your luxurious junk and set sail through the bay while lunch is served. In the afternoon explore caves and islets, go kayaking or swim. Then enjoy dinner on board.

Day 2: Cat Ba Island and Bai Tu Long Bay

Cat Ba Island is famous for its national park which is covered by a dense rainforest and home to numerous indigenous species of flora and fauna. The secluded village of Viet Hai, situated in the middle of this pristine environment, is easily accessible thanks to a short walk or cycling trip. Bai Tu Long Bay is the most remote area of your voyage. Here you take a relaxing rowing boat tour through the floating village of Vung Vieng and cruise into the geological park. Tonight have another memorable dinner on your junk.

Day 3: Halong Bay to Hanoi

Greet the day with a morning Tai Chi session on deck and an opportunity to view a stunning sunrise over the bay. Then, after breakfast, visit the Sung Sot (Surprise) Cave. Explore the bay further while enjoying a buffet brunch then cruise back to the dock where you say farewell to the captain and crew before beginning the drive back to your hotel in Hanoi. This short trip is a must while visiting the north of the country and will leave you with lasting memories.
