There is always lots to see and do and so many special places to visit during any holiday in the beautiful country of Vietnam, and this short tour to Dong Hoi then into a national park, makes a great add on to any stay in Southeast Asia. Beginning in the city of Hue in the north, you travel to an area that became infamous during the Vietnam War then to the peace and serenity of the countryside, a world away from Vietnam's frantic cities.

Full Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Hue to Dong Hoi

You are picked up from your hotel in Hue to begin the journey to Quang Binh. Stop at the Ben Hai River, the natural border separating North and South Vietnam until 1975, which was located in the middle of the infamous DMZ (Demilitarized Zone). Visit the impressive Vinh Moc tunnel complex, a series of underground tunnels locals used to literally bury their village to escape heavy bombardment during the Vietnam war. Explore the tunnels and a small museum before continuing to Dong Hoi arriving in the late afternoon.

Day 2: Phong Nha - Ke Bang

Recognised as a world heritage site in 2003 Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park boasts stunning limestone karst mountains, caves and grottoes. Along with the areas stunning natural beauty the national park is home to the largest dry cave in Asia and the largest single cave passage in the world. This morning travel through the beautiful Quang Binh countryside to the small village of Son Trach where you take an open boat journey into the caves before enjoying a walking tour of the area along wooden paths.

Day 3: Ke Bang to Hue

Today your short but exciting tour to see the Vietnam War battlegrounds and the amazing cave systems comes to an end. After breakfast spend some more time walking in this beautiful area before being picked up from your hotel and driven back to the city of Hue. You can stay on here and explore some more seeing all the sights, head to the airport to catch an onward flight and continue your Southeast Asia adventure, or begin your journey back home.
