No visit to Vietnam is complete without taking a trip out to stunning Halong Bay, where towering limestone pillars and tiny islets topped by forest rise from the emerald waters of the Gulf of Tonkin. Designated a world heritage site in 1994, Halong Bay's spectacular scatter of islands, dotted with wind and wave eroded grottoes, is a vision of ethereal beauty and, not surprisingly, the country's number one tourist attraction.

Full Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Hanoi to Halong Bay

Leave Hanoi for the three and a half hour drive to Halong Bay, travelling through the rich farmlands of the Red River Delta where you see villagers as they work the rice fields, take pigs to market on motorbikes, and plough the fields with water buffaloes. On arrival at the pier board your private junk and sip a welcome drink before departure. Enjoy a seafood lunch while cruising through Halong Bay then continue north through Bai Tu Long Bay and paddle around Cap La and Tra San by kayak before dinner. Overnight onboard.

Day 2: Halong Bay

Wake up to a spectacular dawn in the bay and after breakfast cruise from Bai Tu Long Bay to Cong Dam which is perfect for both kayaking and swimming. Explore hidden lagoons, paddle to the quiet shores of Cong Dam, have a BBQ lunch on the beach and a swim. In the afternoon, head back to the junk for some relaxation while cruising the Cong Do area. Then at Hon Co island you explore the well-hidden Thien Canh Son cave before enjoying another memorable dinner on board.

Day 3: Halong Bay to Hanoi

Rise early to experience another magical dawn then have breakfast on board while cruising to the Vung Ha area of the bay. Visit Vung Vieng fishing village by rustic row-boat then return to your junk for the journey back to Halong City, enjoying lunch as the boat wends its way back to the dock. Then say farewell to the captain and crew before being driven back to Hanoi where the tour comes to an end. This short trip is a must while visiting the north of the country and will leave you with lots of great memories.
