Nature and adventure go hand in hand on Australia’s Nature Coast and on this great nine day tour you can combine relaxing on beautiful beaches with a whole range of wildlife watching activities. Beginning and ending in the lovely city of Brisbane, you travel along the coast visiting and staying at Hervey Bay and beautiful Fraser Island. This relatively short trip makes a great add on to any longer holiday Down Under and you will see so many memorable sights along the way.

Full Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Brisbane

Pick up your rental car at the Brisbane City Depot or airport and begin your drive to Hervey Bay via the Bruce Highway passing the towns of Gympie and Maryborough. Your Australia’s Nature Coast adventure starts on the Fraser Coast, home to World Heritage listed Fraser Island and Hervey Bay, famous as the stopover point for thousands of migrating humpback whales. During whale season, take a trip to experience one of the world’s closest encounters with whales or try other aquatic adventures including dolphin cruises, fishing, sailing, kayaking, and jet ski tours.

Day 2: Hervey Bay

A full day at your leisure in Hervey Bay to explore the area or alternatively for an unrivalled reef experience, spend the day on the Great Barrier Reef ECO certified Lady Elliot Island, starting with a 40 minute stunning scenic flight. If your trip falls between November and March you could find yourself captivated by the green sea turtles during egg laying and hatching.

Day 3: Fraser Island

This morning make your way to River Heads and check in at the Kingfisher Bay Resort. Then go out and explore incomparable Fraser Island – the largest sand island on earth. This World Heritage-listed icon has ancient rainforests, more than 100 freshwater lakes, huge sand blows, rock pools and an amazing 75 mile beach highway - complete with a shipwreck and cliffs of stunning coloured sands.

Day 4: Fraser Island

Today is free for you to explore Fraser Island and its surrounds or simply relax and soak up the sunshine on one of the fabulous beaches. All manner of watersports are on offer and you can go diving, sailing and surfing. For the more adventurous there is paragliding and you can even take a scenic flight over the island for great views of the area.

Day 5: Noosa Resort

This morning take your launch transfer from Fraser Island to River Heads. Travel south via Rainbow Beach and experience the beauty of the Teewah Coloured Sands on a 4WD tour followed by a hang glide over the tumultuous Pacific Ocean. Arriving on the Sunshine Coast, enjoy a leisurely boat cruise along the wilderness of the Noosa Everglades and soak up the natural surroundings of mangroves, birdlife and pristine waterways or do it yourself with an eco accredited kayak tour.

Day 6: Noosa Resort

Start the day with a stroll through Noosa National Park and spot koalas in Australia’s native Eucalyptus trees or try horse riding in bushland. Alternatively you can join the Noosa Biosphere Cruise to explore an area where more than 626 vertebrate fauna species have been recorded. Then learn to surf or stand up paddle surf in a calm river before tackling the waves, have a kite surfing lesson or travel south to Mooloolaba for a dive at the Brisbane Marine Conservation Park.

Day 7: Sunshine Coast

Today you can enjoy some more adventures at the luxurious Noosa Resort before checking out and travelling along the lovely coast via Sunshine Beach, Coolum Beach and Maroochydore to reach the town of Caloundra where you stay tonight at the Oaks Oasis. If you have time there are lots of activities on offer in the area

Day 8: Caloundra

Today after breakfast spend some time in Caloundra kayaking, boating and fishing in the pristine protected waterways of the Pumicestone Passage before heading to the majestic Glass House Mountains. There are amazing views from many lookouts or for the adventurous, climb or abseil the craggy peaks.

Day 9: Brisbane

Today you leave Caloundra and rejoin the Bruce Highway for the drive back to Brisbane. Return you hire car in the city or at the airport then consider staying on and spending more time along Australia's Sunshine Coast before catching your flight home. This tour makes a great add on to any longer stay Down Under.
