This is a real Australian adventure with a difference as you travel form the lovely city of Perth and back discovering the delights of the Outback, fabulous coastal resorts, fascinating towns, iconic Wave Rock and some of the great wineries at Margaret River. Your tour takes you from the city as far as Kalgoorlie before you make the return trip and along the way you will visit lots of memorable places and experience the Australian way of life. There is plenty of time for relaxing at some superb beach resorts and taking part in exciting activities.

Full Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Perth

On arrival you will be met at Perth airport and driven to your hotel in this vibrant city, the Crown Towers, for a two night stay. Flush with mining money, Perth frequently scores top billing on lists of the world's most liveable cities. The capital of Western Australia defies its remote location by boldly flaunting its riches, both natural and material. Sprawling King's Park is a focal point of downtown and work hard, play hard is the mantra here as locals take advantage of the Swan River and the string of pearly white beaches.

Day 2: Rottnest Island

Today a Rottnest Express coach will pick you up from your hotel for your transfer to Barrack Street Jetty, the departure point of your tour. At 8.15am board your vessel to commence a full day Discover Rottnest tour. Cruise to Rottnest Island, with morning tea served on board. Arrive at approximately 10.30am and receive a guided introduction walk, followed by an Island Discovery coach tour to explore the beauty and tranquility of Rottnest in air-conditioned comfort. This tour includes historical, cultural and natural points of interest. Enjoy lunch at Hotel Rottnest, followed by free time at your leisure before boarding the ferry at 4.00pm to depart the island. Cruise back to Barrack Street Jetty Perth with afternoon tea or wine tasting service on board. Tour concludes at approximately 5.45pm, at which time hotel drop offs will commence.

Day 3: Perth to Hyden

Possibly spend some more time exploring the city after breakfast seeing more of the sights before picking up your hire car today in Perth and driving to Hyden to stay in the famous Wave Rock Motel. After checking in you can relax in comfortable surrounds overlooking the picturesque Billabong Pool and gardens because tomorrow you have a full day to visit probably Western Australia's most famous natural landmark - the stunning Wave Rock.

Day 4: Wave Rock

A full day at leisure to discover the famous Wave Rock, which is a natural rock formation that is shaped like a huge breaking ocean wave. The "wave" is about 49 feet high and forms the north side of a solitary hill which is known as Hyden Rock and is the centrepiece of a huge nature reserve. The rock has a cultural importance to the Bullardong people and local tribes believe it was the creation of the Dream time Rainbow Serpent. You will be one of more than 140,000 tourists who visit Wave Rock every year

Day 5: Hyden to Kalgoorlie

Today you leave the comfort of the Wave Rock Motel to begin the long drive to Kalgoorie, a dynamic and sophisticated regional centre with a fascinating Gold Rush history, lovely old buildings and old gold miner ghost towns. History and lifestyle blend easily here and you can feel a real sense of the real Australia. Day 6: Kalgoorie

A full day at leisure to explore the town and surrounding area and a good time to take a tour of the Super Pit - the largest open pit gold mine in Australia. In Kalgoorlie you can discover gold fields and ghost towns, history and high adventure in the heart of Western Australia's wild west. The colourful town was born in the gold rush of the 1880s when hordes of fortune-seekers from across the country descended on the region. By the 1960s the population had grown to 200,000 people, mainly prospectors, bandits and prostitutes

Day 7: Kalgoorlie to Esperance

Today you say farewell to exciting Kalgoorlie and head back down to the south coast and Esperance, which offers the kind of natural beauty that borders on overwhelming, and a slow simplicity that will remind you that sometimes, the Earth’s treasures are all you need. Here you will find everything from pink lakes incredible beaches and offshore islands and you will be staying for the next two nights at the Comfort Inn on the beautiful Bay of Isles.

Day 8: Esperance

No need for your car today when an Esperance Eco Discovery Tours vehicle will pick you up from your hotel to begin a morning Cape LeGrand Adventure. This tour can include up to 40 miles of beach driving to Cape Le Grand National Park, a rock climb, swimming and sandboarding plus more. Enjoy morning tea on the world class beach of Lucky Bay. See wildlife, wildflowers when in season and learn about the local history. The tour ends around 1pm and you have the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 9: Esperance to Albany

Today you may have time for a morning dip in the ocean or a bit more sightseeing and shopping for souvenirs before leaving this paradise location and driving on to Albany where you stay for the next two nights at the Quality Suites Banksia Gardens, which is nice and close to the city centre. The rest of the day is free for you to explore this new area and possibly a good time to visit the fascinating National ANZAC Centre.

Day 10: Albany

Today why not drive to one of several national parks (West Cape Howe National Park, Porongurup National Park, Torndirrup National Park, Walpole-Nornalup National Park). Visit the Discovery Bay Centre and experience the historic whaling station and stop at the Great Southern region food and wine producers of Mount Barker, Denmark and the Porongurup. You can also go fishing or whale watching or simply choose to just relax, unwind and enjoy ‘Albany Time’.

Day 11: Albany to Margaret River

Leave Albany today and drive on to the wonderful Margaret River region where you stay in well-appointed apartment accommodation at Derby Park which borders the State Forest in the heart of Margaret River and is a short stroll from lots of galleries, cafes and restaurants. Your 'home' for the next couple of nights is also just a 10 minute drive from world class beaches and wineries making it the perfect place to chill out and enjoy a real Aussie vibe.

Day 12: Margaret River

Another free day and a good time to visit one of the wineries in the area. Margaret River itself is a small town which, as well as its world famous wineries, is known for its craft breweries and boutiques. Along the nearby coast you find great surf breaks and the waters here are home to lots of migratory whales. There is a great hike you can take while staying here between two lighthouses north and south of the town which is called the Cape to Cape Track and it fringes limestone caves and sea cliffs

Day 13: Margaret River to Mandurah

Today you head back towards Perth before your final stop of the tour in the beautiful seaside town of Mandurah where you can chill out and relax for your last couple of nights at the Seashells Hotel. Mandurah has long been a favourite holiday destination for West Australian families because of its stretches of white sand beaches, great fishing and crabbing on the Pearl Estuary, world class golf courses, arts and culture and great wineries so is a marvellous place to spend you last nights of the tour.

Day 14: Mandurah

Seashells Mandurah really ticks all the boxes and you have a full day here to relax at this beach front property on the shores of Comet Bay overlooking the Indian Ocean on one side and Dolphin Quay marina on the other. The area is known for its abundant wildlife and water birds along the Peel-Harvey Estuary and Hall's Head Beach has a large resident dolphin population. To the south, Yalgorup National Park is home to thrombolites - rare rock-like formations that can be found at Lake Clifton.

Day 15: Depart Perth

Maybe time for a final dip in the sea or some souvenir shopping before leaving Mandurah and driving back to Perth airport, dropping off your car and catching an onward flight or beginning your journey back home. This 15 day tour makes a great holiday in its own right, but could well be added on to visits to Sydney, Melbourne, Ayers Rock and the Red Centre, the Sunshine Coast and the Great Barrier Reef to make your experiences Down Under complete.
