Enjoy this real Australian adventure with a difference as you travel form the lovely city of Perth and back discovering the delights of fabulous coastal resorts, fascinating towns, national parks, and some of the great wineries at Margaret River. During this mainly self-drive tour, you will visit lots of memorable places and experience the Australian way of life. There is plenty of time for relaxing at some superb beach resorts and the chance to take part in exciting activities.

Full Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Perth

On arrival you will be met at Perth airport and driven to your hotel in this vibrant city, the Crown Towers, for a two night stay. Flush with mining money, Perth frequently scores top billing on lists of the world's most liveable cities. The capital of Western Australia defies its remote location by boldly flaunting its riches, both natural and material. Sprawling King's Park is a focal point of downtown and work hard, play hard is the mantra here as locals take advantage of the Swan River and the string of pearly white beaches.

Day 2: Rottnest Island

Today a coach will pick you up from your hotel for your transfer to Barrack Street Jetty, the departure point of your full day Discover Rottnest tour. Cruise to Rottnest Island, with morning tea served on board. On arrival enjoy a guided introduction walk, followed by an Island Discovery coach tour to explore the beauty and tranquility of Rottnest in air-conditioned comfort. This tour includes historical, cultural and natural points of interest. After lunch at Hotel Rottnest you have free time before making the return journey to the city.

Day 3: Perth to Albany

Today you may have time for some more sightseeing in Perth before picking up your hire car from a downtown rental and driving out of the city to Albany where you stay for the next three nights at the Quality Suites Banksia Gardens, which is nice and close to the city centre. The rest of the day is free for you to explore this new area, do some shopping, try one of the restaurants and possibly a good time to visit the fascinating National ANZAC Centre.

Day 4: Albany

Today why not drive to one of several national parks (West Cape Howe National Park, Porongurup National Park, Torndirrup National Park, Walpole-Nornalup National Park). Visit the Discovery Bay Centre and experience the historic whaling station and stop at the Great Southern region food and wine producers of Mount Barker, Denmark and the Porongurup. You can also go fishing or whale watching or simply choose to just relax, unwind and enjoy ‘Albany Time’.

Day 5: Albany

There is plenty to see and do in this area and today you are free to explore or just relax on one of the superb beaches. Albany is a city on the southern tip of Western Australia and id know for its pristine beaches, the best of which is probably Middleton Beach. East of the city is Two Peoples Bay Nature Reserve which is home to secluded Little Beach. Albany's Historic Whaling Station, a former whale processing plant, now houses a museum. And Torndirrup National Park is a great place to go whale watching.

Day 6: Albany To Denmark

Leave Albany after breakfast this morning and take the short drive to Demark to continue your tour of this lovely region. Enjoy the aroma of the surrounding Karri forest in which birdlife abounds - colourful parrots, delicate finches, robins, wrens and even rare cockatoos. There are possums that may visit your balcony during your stay at the Karma Chalets and Karisma Spa and kangaroos which are regular visitors to the slopes below the chalets where they can be seen most days at dusk and dawn.

Day 7: Denmark

A full day at leisure in the Karri Forest where you can take a tour and see all the exotic birds and wildlife. If you would prefer just to chill out for a day you can take advantage of the Karisma Spa where you can try any number of pampering and well-being treatments. This is a place where you can spend real quality time and in between fit in visits to the town of Denmark itself to meet the locals and get an insight into the relaxed Aussie lifestyle.

Day 8: Denmark to Karri Valley

Today you say farewell to your luxurious spa resort and continue your journey by driving on to the Karri Valley where you spend the next to nights staying at the Karri Valley Resort while exploring this new region. Nestled on the edge of trout filled Lake Beedelup and surrounded by majestic Karri Forest and seasonal wildflowers, the natural charm of Karri Valley Resort provides the perfect setting for everyone to enjoy and makes a great base for touring the area.

Day 9: Karri Valley

Another day at leisure when you can soak up nature and the environment, and enjoy a data free world. The secluded location of the Karri Valley Resort means that there is no mobile and internet reception . . . but what you can have is peace and quiet. While staying here you have the opportunity to go on nature walks and you will be captivated by the tranquility of Lake Beedelup. Your resort is just 10 minutes drive from the town of Pemberton if you want to explore further afield.

Day 10: Karri Valley to Yallingup

Today you may have time for one more walk around the beautiful lake or in the forest before getting into your car for the short drive to Yallingup, which is in the heart of the Margaret River wineland country and on a spectacular coastline. Yallingup is a popular tourist destination with Australians because of its superb beaches and limestone caves, and proximity to Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park. You will be staying for the next three nights at Seashells Hotel.

Day 11: Margaret River

Time for some wining and dining on a full day Margaret River Wine Tours trip which operates on a flexible itinerary and visits outstanding wineries on a daily basis. Indulge in a delicious winery lunch with a wide range of choices from a contemporary menu featuring local produce and a complimentary glass of wine. This is a must tour while staying at Margaret River and a great time to familiarise yourself with all the wonderful local wines.

Day 12: Margaret River

Another full day to enjoy the delights of Margaret River, which is a small town which, as well as its world famous wineries, is known for its craft breweries and boutiques. Along the nearby coast you find great surf breaks and the waters here are home to lots of migratory whales. There is a great hike you can take while staying here between two lighthouses north and south of the town which is called the Cape to Cape Track and it fringes limestone caves and sea cliffs.

Day 13: Margaret River to Mandurah

Today you head back towards Perth before your final stop of the tour in the beautiful seaside town of Mandurah where you can chill out and relax for your last couple of nights at the Seashells Hotel. Mandurah has long been a favourite holiday destination for West Australian families because of its stretches of white sand beaches, great fishing and crabbing on the Pearl Estuary, world class golf courses, arts and culture and great wineries so is a marvellous place to spend you last nights of the tour.

Day 14: Mandurah

Seashells Mandurah really ticks all the boxes and you have a full day here to relax at this beach front property on the shores of Comet Bay overlooking the Indian Ocean on one side and Dolphin Quay marina on the other. The area is known for its abundant wildlife and water birds along the Peel-Harvey Estuary and Hall's Head Beach has a large resident dolphin population. To the south, Yalgorup National Park is home to thrombolites - rare rock-like formations that can be found at Lake Clifton.

Day 15: End of tour

Maybe time for a final dip in the sea or some souvenir shopping before leaving Mandurah and driving back to Perth airport, dropping off your car and catching an onward flight or beginning your journey back home. This 15 day tour makes a great holiday in its own right, but could well be added on to visits to Sydney, Melbourne, Ayers Rock and the Red Centre, the Sunshine Coast and the Great Barrier Reef to make your experiences Down Under complete.
