Full Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Colombo

On arrival at the Bandaranaike International Airport, you'll be met by your guide and transferred to your hotel in Colombo. After a chance to settle in you'll enjoy a city tour of Colombo, Sri Lanka’s largest city and the traditional gateway to the Orient. You'll see colourful bazaars, temples and mosques, as well as the Colombo Museum and the New Parliament.

Day 2: Habarana

Today you will travel to Habarana approximately 4 1/2 hours with the rest of the day at leisure

Day 3: Habarana

Today begins with a visit to Sigiriya, an ancient fortress which was once home to King Kasyapa. The entrance to the original castle was through the mouth of a lion, although only its enormous paws have survived the ravages of time. You'll explore the gardens, frescoes and mirror wall of this atmospheric lost city and learn more about its history. In the afternoon, you can relax back at your hotel or choose an optional excursion to the medieval city of Polonnaruwa to see its picturesque reservoirs and monuments including the Royal Palace and the Gal Vihare complex of four enormous images of the Buddha, cut from a single slab of granite.

Day 4: Kandy

This morning you'll take a Jeep safari to Minneriya National Park, home to sambar deer, leopards and elephants, as well as the third-century Minneriya Tank, which to this day is a great place to watch elephants bathing, as well as to spot birds including cormorants and painted storks. Next stop is the Dambulla Cave Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site which dates back to the first century, filled with over 150 spectacular carvings of the Buddha.

Day 5: Kandy

After a morning at leisure to relax in the hotel, this afternoon you'll enjoy a tour of the beautiful hill capital of Kandy, taking in Sri Dalada Maligawa, home to the relic of the tooth of Buddha, and the Cultural Kandyan Dance Show. Then it's off to Kalapuraya in the beautiful Dumbara valley to admire the many shrines and temples, filled with paintings, frescoes, wood and stone carvings.

Day 6: Beruwela

Today you head to Beruwela for the beach part of your holiday. The quiet beach here is perfect place to relax and enjoy a dip, and you might even be lucky enough to spot a turtle.

Day 7: Beruwela

You have the full day at leisure today to chill out on Beruwela's "golden mile" of sands. By the end of the day you'll be feeling blissfully relaxed – the perfect end to your holiday.

Day 8: Departure

After breakfast you'll check out of your hotel and transfer to the airport for your journey home.
