Full Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Ushuaia

You board the Ocean Nova in the Argentinian port city of Ushusia with plenty of time to explore before you set sail. It's located on the Tierra del Fuego archipelago, the southernmost tip of South America, nicknamed the “End of the World.” The windswept town, perched on a steep hill, is surrounded by the Martial Mountains and the Beagle Channel. It's the gateway to Antarctica cruises and tours to nearby Isla Yécapasela, known as “Penguin Island” for its vast colonies.

Day 2: Cross the Drake Passage

Today is a good time to get to know all that the ship has to offer as you sail across the Drake Passage towards Antarctica. This famous stretch of water was named in honour of our own Sir Francis Drake, the great 16th century British explorer. As you sail on route to South Shetland Islands, you can attend an engaging program of lectures and presentations. In the company of expert guides, watch for wildlife from the glass-enclosed lounge or from the outside decks.

Day 3: Crossing the Drake Passage

Today you may spot magnificent sea birds such as the albatross and petrels as well as different species of whales on their way south to Antarctica. After crossing the Antarctic Convergence, the environment changes noticeably. Keep your camera ready, as this is the best time to watch for the first icebergs and first sight of Antarctic land.Throughout the day there are a whole host of on board activities if you tire of looking at the scenery.

Day 4: Exploring the Antarctic Peninsula

During the next four days of your cruise you can enjoy exploring the Antarctic Peninsular. Begin by cruising between the South Shetland Islands and the western coast of the Peninsula, sailing along ice filled fjords and among spectacular icebergs, while enjoying the company of sea birds, penguins, seals and whales. Each day, disembark by Zodiac boat and explore the landscape together with expert polar guides. And from the ship enjoy spectacular vistas from the glass-enclosed lounge.

Day 5: Antarctic Peninsula

Now is a good time to share your daily adventures with fellow guests making suggestions on where to go and what to see next. While the exact itinerary changes with each expedition you will explore several spots that offer the best possible overview of the varied Antarctic environment. Your voyage may include visits to sites such as Paulet Island, Hope Bay, Port Lockroy, Petermann Island, Paradise Bay, Deception Island, the Lemaire Channel or many other magnificent places.

Day 6: Antarctic Peninsula

Another wonderful day exploring the many delights of the Peninsula with trips ashore whenever the ship drops anchor. The Ocean Nova is a modern and comfortable vessel. She was built in Denmark in 1992 to sail the ice-choked waters of Greenland, and her strengthened hull is ideally suited for expedition travel in Antarctica. The Ocean Nova's has capacity for 68 passengers accommodated in comfortable outside cabins, all with private facilities, including dedicated single, twin and triple cabins.

Day 7: Antarctic Passage

Your final day of exploration in this region as the Ocean Nova completes its sailing around the Antarctic Peninsula. All meals are included in the cruise price as well as selected alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks with lunch and dinner. All the excursions are led by experienced and knowledgeable guides and throughout the trip you can also enjoy lectures by Antarctic specialists. There is also a post-expedition information file including a gallery of images.

Day 8: Crossing the Drake Passage

Today the Ocean Nova begins its two day crossing back across the Drake Passage and you are invited to relax and take the time to watch wildlife from the bridge or outside decks while enjoying lectures given by the on-board Antarctic experts. During this part of the voyage you will sail along the Beagle Channel to Port Williams, before continuing to your final destination, Ushuaia in Argentina, where this wonderful cruise comes to an end.

Day 9: Crossing the Drake Passage

Your final full day on board the Ocean Nova as she sails through the Drake Passage, so make the very most of it. As with all days, keep your camera ready, as this is the time to watch for more giant icebergs as you say farewell to the Antarctic land. Throughout the day there are a whole host of on board activities if you tire of looking at the scenery. And remember you can admire the spectacular vistas from the comfort of the ship's glass-enclosed lounge.

Day 10: Ushuaia

Today the Ocean Nova arrives back at Ushuaia where your fabulous Antarctic cruise comes to an end. Say farewell to new found friends and possibly explore more of this Argentinian port town before heading to the airport to catch an onward flight and explore more of South America or begin your journey back home. This superb cruise around Antarctica is a great way to see one of the most stunning places on Earth and will leave you with so many great memories.
