Not for the faint of heart, this trip to Ciudad Perdida, the Lost City in Colombia's Sierra Nevada, is five days of trekking through jungle, wading through rivers and climbing the 1,200 steps to the City. It's all worth it when you get to experience this astonishing place and learn about the history of the Tayrona people who built it over 1,000 years ago.

Full Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Santa Marta

The adventure begins as you take a private transfer from Santa Marta airport to your hotel in Taganga.

Accommodation: Standard Casa Maryon

Day 2: Lost City Trek

Today you'll pull on your walking boots for your first taste of trekking. This morning you'll make the three-hour walk to el Mamey farm, where you'll stop for lunch before a further two-and-a-half-hour trek along the valley of the Rio Buritaca. There'll be a chance to relax and enjoy a refreshing swim before dinner at the farm where you'll stay overnight in a hammock.

Day 3: Lost City Trek

Today you'll enjoy five hours of walking along the trails used by indigenous tribes. Along the way, you'll visit a local village and have many opportunities to stop for a river dip. You'll have dinner and stay overnight in hammocks in Kogi Mamo farm.

Day 4: Lost City Trek

Today you'll make the final ascent up hundreds of stone steps to the Lost City. You'll have plenty of time to explore, relax and enjoy lunch before heading back to Kogi Mamo for the night.

Day 5: Lost City Trek

You'll continue the trek back today, heading along the valley of the Rio Buritaca.

Day 6: Taganga

You'll start the day with a dip in the freshwater pools and waterfalls, before the three-hour walk to Machete Pelao, where you'll stop for lunch before returning to Santa Marta by 4x4.

Day 7: Depart Santa Marta

Today you'll transfer to Santa Marta Airport for your onward journey.
