Location

Antigua’s stunning northeast coast is the location of this 30-acre beachfront resort. Bordered by Devil’s Bridge National Park and surrounded by white sand beaches, it makes the ideal spot for a get-away-from-it-all break. The airport is a 30-minute drive away.

Rooms:

A wide variety of suites and villas awaits you at the resort. The pale-green cottage-style Hillside View, Waterview and Waterfront suites are pleasing to the eye. Some enjoy panoramic sea views and all have classic Caribbean décor, air-conditioning, private verandahs, vaulted ceilings and satellite TV. All suites can sleep four, and have exterior connecting doors, making them suitable for larger families or groups if needed. The resort also provides two-bedroom Hilltop Villas, which share a dedicated pool and have private balconies, air-conditioning, flatscreen TVs and kitchen areas.

Activities:

You won’t ever be bored at the Verandah Resort. As well as swimming and snorkelling at the resort’s pools and the protected cove-like bay, you can try your hand at diving under the watchful eye of Linda Swann, the resort’s PADI dive instructor – she knows all of the island’s best dive sites. There’s also windsurfing, paddle boarding, pedal boating, Hobie cat sailing and kayaking – equipment and lessons are free for non-motorised watersports at the Verandah. Away from the water, there’s tennis, mini-golf, volleyball, pool, a fully equipped fitness centre, table tennis and shuffleboard. There’s also plenty of entertainment in the evenings, and the opportunity to book on exciting tours and excursions outside of the resort, such as a safari or volcano tour.

Dining:

The resort boasts three main dining spots, as well as a number of lounges and bar, including the Rasta Bar and the Beach Bar & Grill. The main restaurant, the Seabreeze, serves a buffet-style breakfast, lunch and dinner, while Nicole’s is the fine dining choice, with its red walls and dark wood, and stylish, Caribbean-inflected dishes. For a more family-friendly option, there’s Buccaneer, serving lighter fare and afternoon tea.

Spa:

The naturally lit Tranquillity Body & Soul Spa is aptly named, for everything here is tranquil and relaxing. As well as three private massage rooms, there’s a facial room; in these, guests can enjoy a range of individual treatments, from a deep-tissue massage to a Tropicale Oasis wrap, or spa packages. There’s also a hair and nail salon.
